What SANGAM5 is
SANGAM5 is a call to action for a radically new Tamil consciousness positing responsible and widespread prosperity through trade and entrepreneurship as Tamil mandate and mission, so also rapid embrace of high knowledge that is accountable to ethics and redemptive reasoning, rediscovery of community, empathy and environmental centrality. An era of new and unparalleled renaissance.
We are there not merely as Tamils, but as part of humanity. The Rise Global and all its wings will be in the forefront, providing spirited yet servant leadership in collaboration with all like-minded organisations and individuals. This era will be known as the Sangam5 era: Tamils will be the pivot, and as a community they will rise and shine.
Why a fifth Sangam
The great three Tamil Sangams of antiquity are a mix of legend and history. Their compiled anthologies provide authentic insights into the life of early Tamils and inspired political, social and literary movements throughout the 20th century. Five qualities stand out about them: they were long, structured, sustained — and combined — efforts by political authority and the knowledge community; reason, fairness, Aram, common sense, love and empathy were the overarching thematic undercurrents of the repertoire, not caste or religious preoccupations; knowledge was distributed democratically and inclusively, with authors ranging from princesses and chieftains to peasants, merchants, potters, smiths, carpenters, Brahmins, Jains and Buddhists; the literature captured a flourishing Tamil mercantilism and trade with the Mediterranean, West Asia, South East Asia and East Asia; and society remained rooted in a life and culture embedded in Mother Nature, beautifully defined by Thinai concepts, values and emotions.
After the legendary three Sangams came a long period of darkness caused by alien invasions and ideologies. In 1901, Pandithurai Thevar attempted a fourth Tamil Sangam in Madurai — a gargantuan, mighty effort by a lone individual. Without political patronage it could not sustain, and it faded into history.
Seventy years: 8 January 2026 – 7 January 2096
The earlier Sangams spanned 4,000, 3,000 and 1,000 years. The Rise believes that if the authority structure leads and the public participates with life, seventy years are enough to reach the goals. Eight January 2026 to seven January 2096 is therefore defined as a seventy-year span, and the Tamil community is being invited — across caste, religion and politics — to declare it the “age of the fifth Sangam” together and to work for it without pause.
The name and the summit
The name belongs to The Rise — எழுமின் — Madurai world summit. The Sangam name belongs to scholarship, grammar and literature; the summit is about enterprise, trade and artificial intelligence. Just as literature and grammar are cultivated, so too are trade and enterprise. Rooting Tamil widely and deeply in Artificial Intelligence, Artificial General Intelligence, Quantum Computing and Brain–Computer interfaces, and gaining real strength in those fields, is also Tamil work. With that declaration, this great undertaking is named Sangam5.
On 8 January 2026, The Rise 16th Global Summit of Tamil Entrepreneurs & Professionals gathered in Madurai with participants from more than 50 countries — in Tamil history, a worldwide gathering of enterprise and commerce — and formally announced the Sangam5 era.
ஏன் சங்கம்5?
2026 ஜனவரி 8 – 11 நாட்களில் The Rise எழுமின் அமைப்பின் 16-வது உலக மாநாடு மாமதுரையில் நடைபெறுகிறது. 50-க்கும் மேலான உலக நாடுகள் – நகரங்களின் தொழில் – வணிக வெற்றித் தமிழர்கள் பங்கேற்கிறார்கள். தமிழ் வரலாற்றில் உலகு தழுவிய ஆகப்பெரும் தொழில் – வணிகச் சங்கமம் என இதனைக் கொள்ளலாம். நல்லது.
அடிப்படையில் தமிழ்ப் புலமை – இலக்கணம் – இலக்கியம் சார்ந்த சங்கம்5 என்ற தலைப்பு தொழில் – வணிகம் – பேரறிவு (AI) சார்ந்த நிகழ்வுக்குப் பொருந்துமா என்ற கேள்வி எழக்கூடும். கொஞ்சம் பின்னோக்கிச் சென்று சீரார்ந்த தமிழ்ச் சங்கங்களின் வரலாற்றினை அறிய முற்படுவோம்.
முதலாம் தமிழ்ச் சங்கம் இன்று கடலில் மூழ்கிவிட்ட குமரிக்கண்டத்து பெருவள நாட்டின் தென் மதுரை நகரில் 4440 ஆண்டு கால வெளியில் நடந்தேறியதாக இறையனார் களவியல் உரை குறிப்பிடுகிறது. இது மிகைப்படுத்தப்பட்ட காலவெளியாகவே இருக்கலாம். ஆனால் சங்கம் என்பது ஓரிரு ஆண்டுகள் நடந்ததல்ல, அது ஒரு நீண்ட காலகட்டத்தின் அறிவு – புலமைத்துவப் பெருமுயற்சி என நாம் கொள்ள வேண்டும். காய்சினவழுதி முதல் கடுங்கோன் வரை 89 மன்னர்கள் இம் முதற்சங்கத்தை ஆதரித்து வளர்த்துள்ளனர். அகத்தியர், திரிபுரம் எரித்த விரிசடைக் கடவுள், குன்றெறிந்த முருகவேள், நிதியின் கிழவன் உள்ளிட்ட 4449 புலவர்கள் தமிழாய்ந்து செய்யுள் பாடியுள்ளனர். பரிபாடல், முதுநாரை, களரியாவிரை உள்ளிட்ட பல நூல்கள் திரட்டப்பட்டன.
பெருவள நாட்டின் அந்தத் தென்மதுரையை பேராழிப் பேரலைகள் கொண்டுவிட்ட பின் – இலங்கைத் தீவுக்கு அப்பால் அன்று நிலமாக இருந்து இன்று கடலுக்குள் உறையும் கபாடபுரத்தில் இடைச்சங்கம் – இரண்டாம் தமிழ்ச்சங்கம் 3700 ஆண்டுகள் நடந்தேறியிருக்கிறது. வெண்தேர் செழியன் முதல் திருமாறன் வரை 59 தமிழ் வேந்தர்கள் இடைச்சங்கமாகிய இரண்டாம் தமிழ்ச் சங்கத்தினை ஆதரித்துள்ளார்கள். 3700 புலவர்கள் பங்கேற்ற இச்சங்கத்தின் நெடுங் காலவெளியில் தொல்காப்பியம், கலி, குருகு, வெண்டாளி, வியாழமாலை என பல நூல்கள் ஆக்கப்பட்டன – தொகுக்கப்பட்டன.
இரண்டாம் சங்கம் நடந்த கபாடபுரமும் கடலில் அழிய, அப்பேரழிவில் பிழைத்து வந்த இரண்டாம் சங்கத்தின் கடைசி மன்னனான திருமாறன் என்ற மன்னனே இன்றைய மாமதுரையில் கடைச்சங்கம் என அறியப்படும் மூன்றாம் சங்கத்தினை தொடங்கியிருக்கிறார். ஆழிப் பேரலைகளை எதிர் கொண்டு வந்த கடற் பயணத்தில் ஒரு காலை அவர் இழந்துவிட்ட காரணத்தால் முடத்திருமாறன் என்றும் அவர் அறியப்படுகிறார். அவர் தொடங்கி உக்கிரப் பெருவழுதி வரை 1850 ஆண்டுகள் 49 மன்னர்கள் இம் மூன்றம் சங்கத்தினை ஆதரித்துள்ளார்கள். அறிவுடையனார், இளநாகனார், நக்கீரனார் உள்ளிட்ட 449 புலவர்கள் பங்கேற்ற இச்சங்கத்தில் தான் இன்று நாம் போற்றிக் கொண்டாடும் அகநானூறு, புறநானூறு, நற்றிணை, குறுந்தொகை, ஐங்குறுநூறு, பதிற்றுப்பத்து உள்ளிட்ட பல நூல்கள் ஆக்கமும் தொகுப்பும் பெற்றன. 20-ம் நூற்றாண்டுத் தமிழர் அரசியல் – சமூக எழுச்சிக்கு இம் மூன்றாம் சங்க நூற்களே மூலதனமாய் அமைந்தன.
மூவேந்தரும் போய், முச்சங்கமும் போய், பாவேந்தரும் குறைந்து, பழைய நூலுரைகளும் மறைந்து, தமிழ்க் கல்வியும் புலமைத்துவமும் மழுங்கிய காலத்தில் ராமநாதபுரம் நிலக்கிழாரும் – சேதுபதி மன்னர்களின் அரசவை அறிஞருமான பாண்டித்துரை தேவர் அவர்கள் மூன்றாம் சங்கம் வளர்ந்த அதே இன்றைய மாமதுரை நகரில் 1901-ம் ஆண்டு 4-ம் தமிழ்ச்சங்கம் நிறுவினார். அருந்தமிழ் நூல்கள் பல ஆக்கமும் திரட்சியும் பெற்றன. தமிழ்க் கல்லூரி எழுந்தது. ஆனால் அரசுகளின் ஆதரவும், தமிழ்ச் சமூகத்தின் கூட்டு ஆதரவும் இல்லாமையால் மாபெரும் கால வெளி முயற்சியாக சுடர் விட முடியாமற் போயிற்று நான்காம் தமிழ்ச் சங்க முன்னெடுப்பு.
மொழி, கலை, இலக்கியம், பண்பாடு சிறக்கவும் , தமிழர் உலக மதிப்பு பெறவும் செல்வச் செழிப்பு மிக்க சமூகமாக நாம் வளர்வதும், தொடர்ந்து விரியும் பேரறிவுத் துறைகளில் பரந்துபட்ட வேரோட்டம் பெறுவதும் அடிப்படையானது என நம்புகிறது The Rise – எழுமின் அமைப்பு. எனவே இலக்கியமும் இலக்கணமும் வளர்ப்பது போலவே, தொழில் – வணிகம் வளர்ப்பதும், Artificial Intelligence, Artificial General Intelligence, Quantum Computing, Brain – Computer interfaces என விரியும் பேரறிவுத் துறைகளில் விரிந்து வேரோடி அத்துறைகளில் பெரு வலிமை பெறுவதும் தமிழ்ப் பணியே என அறிக்கையிட்டு இப் பெருமுயற்சிக்கு சங்கம்5 எனப் பெயர் சூட்டுகிறது The Rise – எழுமின் மாமதுரை உலக மாநாடு.
முந்தைய சங்கங்களின் கால வெளி 4000, 3000, 1000 ஆண்டுகளாக இருந்தது. ஆனால் அதிகாரச் சமூகத்தின் (அரசு) முன் தலைமையும், பொதுச் சமூகத்தின் உயிரோட்டமான பங்கேற்பும் இருந்தால் இலக்குகளை எட்ட 70 ஆண்டுகள் போதும் என நம்புகிறது The Rise அமைப்பு. எனவே ஜனவரி 08, 2026 முதல் ஜனவரி 07, 2096 வரையான 70 ஆண்டு கால வெளி வரையறுத்து, இந்த 70 ஆண்டுகளில் உலகம் மதிக்கிற அளவுக்கான பன்முக வல்லமைகள் கொண்ட மாபெரும் மக்கள் இனமாக தமிழர்களாகிய நாம், தமிழர் என்ற உணர்வுப் பெருமிதத்துடன் உயர்ந்து நிற்போம் என உறுதி பூண்டு, அந்த இலக்கிற்காக இரவு பகலாய் இடையறாது உழைப்போம் என்ற அர்ப்பணத்தினையும் தமிழ்ச் சமூகத்திற்கு அறிவித்து, எல்லோரும் வாருங்கள் – சாதி, மதம், அரசியல் கடந்து தமிழால் இணைந்து வாருங்கள் என அழைத்து 2026 ஜனவரி 08 தொடங்கி 2096 ஜனவரி 07 வரையான 70 ஆண்டுகளை "ஐந்தாம் சங்கத்தின் காலம்" என இணைந்து அறிவிக்க அனைவரையும் மாமதுரைக்கு அழைக்கிறது The Rise – எழுமின் அமைப்பு.
